Big Things AU ("the App") is developed by Quyen Ngo. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
The App uses Apple Core Location with the "Always" permission to detect when you approach a Big Thing or convict-era heritage site, so that an audio story can play automatically as you drive past. Your location is processed entirely on your device. It is never transmitted to any external server, never logged, never shared, and never sold.
Why "Always" rather than "When in Use": stories are designed to play automatically while you drive — for safety, drivers shouldn't be looking at their phone. Background geofencing requires the "Always" permission. You can revoke or downgrade this permission at any time in iOS Settings; with "While Using" or "Off" the App falls back to manual story playback.
The App tracks which stories you've heard (so they don't replay too soon) and any stories you mark as favourites. This information is stored locally on your device and is not synced to any external server in this version.
When you purchase a Big Things AU subscription, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information.

Big Things AU does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information such as your name or email address.
Stories in Big Things AU are pre-generated by an AI language model from publicly available sources (Wikipedia under CC BY-SA, UNESCO World Heritage listings, state heritage registers). Stories were reviewed by the developer before being included in the App, but factual errors may still occur. Treat stories as entertainment and as a starting point for your own exploration; do not rely on them as authoritative historical or cultural sources. Sources for each story are listed in the in-app story detail screen.
We do not sell, trade, or share your data with any third parties. Your location, listening history, and favourites never leave your device.
All data is stored locally on your device. You can delete all your data at any time through the app's Settings or by removing the App from your device.
Big Things AU is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
