You photograph a real object — a letterbox, a weird sign, a rock, a statue — and Mythsmith invents a piece of folklore about that exact thing and shows it as a shareable card. It makes the story up on purpose; that's the whole point.
No. Every legend is invented fiction, generated by an AI model for fun. They're not true and aren't claims about any real person, place, or thing — even when they sound convincing. Please don't treat them as fact or share them as if they were.
Each tone pack tells the legend in a different voice: Bush Tall-Tale (a deadpan yarn), Folk-Horror (quiet village dread), Whimsical Fairytale (gentle magic), Cryptid Field Report (a deadpan researcher's notes), and Ancient Myth (gods and origins). All packs are free to pick; generating in any pack costs the same one legend.
Mythsmith is free to download and comes with 3 free legends. Each legend you generate uses one credit. When you run out, you can buy more in legend packs through the App Store. Credits do not expire and there is no subscription.
Just the camera, so it can see the object you're photographing. You can also pick an existing photo from your library instead. Mythsmith does not use your location or microphone.
Saved legends live in your Codex, stored on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers.
