Plotleaf ("the App") is developed by Quyen Ngo. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
On first launch, the App generates a random UUID and stores it in Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store. This UUID is an opaque, anonymous identifier that lets the App associate your design-credit balance with your Apple ID across devices. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any other personal information, and it never leaves your device except as part of authenticated requests to our backend.
On first launch, the App sends a signed AppTransaction token (a JSON Web Signature issued by Apple) to our backend. This token confirms the App was genuinely obtained through the App Store. It is used once, only to grant initial free design credits, and contains no personal information.
Your remaining design-credit balance is stored on our backend server (hosted on Railway) and keyed to your anonymous UUID. We also store timestamps for credit grants and redemptions, and a per-day usage counter used to enforce fair-use rate limits. We do not store your name, email address, IP address, device model, or location alongside this balance.
When you photograph your yard or balcony, the image — together with the mask you paint to mark the area to redesign — is compressed on your device, sent to our backend, and forwarded to our image-generation provider (fal.ai, which runs the AI image model) to produce the redesigned image. The image is processed in memory to generate that result and is not retained by Plotleaf's servers after the response is returned. Photos are not saved to any Plotleaf-owned database or log, and are not used to train any AI model.
Location is optional. If you choose "Detect from my location," the App uses your approximate coordinates on your device to estimate your climate (plant-hardiness) zone, so it can suggest plants likely to survive where you live. Your precise location is not transmitted to or stored on our servers — only the resulting list of suggested plant names is included in the design request. You can skip location entirely and pick your climate zone manually; the App works fully without location access.
Plotleaf does not use the microphone.
When you buy a credit pack, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive a signed StoreKit transaction from Apple, which we verify and use to credit your balance. We do not collect or store your payment information.
Redesigned images and plant recommendations in Plotleaf are AI-generated and drawn from a curated plant dataset. Renders are illustrative concepts, plant suitability is estimated from your climate zone, and cost figures are rough guides — not quotes. Output may be inaccurate or unsuitable for your specific soil, microclimate, sun exposure, or local regulations. Always confirm plant choices, suitability, and pricing with a local nursery or qualified professional before purchasing or planting.
The only data retained by Plotleaf's servers is your anonymous UUID, your current credit balance, timestamps for grants and redemptions, and a per-day usage counter for rate limiting. We do not retain raw photos, masks, redesigned images, email addresses, names, IP addresses, precise location, or any other personal information. Photos are forwarded to the image-generation provider, processed in memory, and discarded as soon as the response is returned.
We do not sell, trade, or share your data with any third parties for advertising, marketing, or analytics. The only data transmitted outside our backend is the photo and mask sent to our image-generation provider, and purchase transactions handled by Apple.
Plotleaf does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information such as your name or email address.
Plotleaf does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting services. We do not track your behaviour across apps or websites.
Plotleaf is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Because Plotleaf does not collect personal information, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you would like to delete your anonymous UUID and associated credit balance from our servers, email us at the address below and we will remove the record. Deleting the App from your device removes the local copy of your UUID.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
