Frequently Asked Questions

How does Quintet work?

Point your iPhone camera at any landmark, building, or street scene and tap the capture button. Quintet sends the photo to our backend, which uses Anthropic's Claude API to identify the subject and generate a short narrated story. The story is read aloud through your phone speaker or AirPods, so you can keep walking and keep looking around while you listen.

What are the five narration styles?

Quintet lets you choose how the story is told. The five styles are:

You can change the style at any time in Settings.

What languages does Quintet support?

Quintet supports 30 to 40 languages for both narration text and audio playback. You can change the language at any time in Settings. Translation quality varies by language; for less common languages, narration may occasionally be less polished.

Do I need AirPods?

No. Quintet works with your phone's speaker, any wired or Bluetooth headphones, and AirPods. AirPods are recommended for a hands-free walking experience — leave your phone in your pocket after the capture and let the narration play through your ears while you keep looking around.

How do credits work?

Quintet is free to download and comes with a small number of free photo credits to get you started. Each landmark capture uses one credit. When you run out, you can buy additional credit packs through the App Store as in-app purchases. Credits do not expire.

How do I buy more credits?

Open Quintet, go to Settings, and tap "Buy Credits." Choose a pack and complete the purchase through the App Store. Credits are added to your balance within a few seconds.

Can I get a refund?

Credit-pack purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests should be submitted through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Why does Quintet ask for location?

An approximate location hint helps the AI identify the right landmark, especially in cities with many similar-looking buildings. Location is optional — Quintet works without it, but identification may be less accurate. Location data is used only for the current capture and is never retained by Quintet's servers.

Is the narration always accurate?

Narration is generated by an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) and may occasionally contain errors, outdated facts, or misidentifications. Treat Quintet as a curious companion rather than a definitive historical source. When a fact matters, verify it from a primary source.

How do I delete my data?

Quintet stores only an anonymous UUID and your credit balance on our server. Email us at the address below and we will delete the record. Removing the App from your device removes the local copy of your UUID.
