RentTax is built to keep your financial information private. Your records are stored only on your device. The one exception is the optional AI receipt-reading feature, explained below.
We do not run accounts, analytics, advertising, or tracking, and we do not sell or share your information. Your properties, income, expenses, and documents are never collected or stored on our servers. The only data that leaves your device is described under “AI receipt reading” below.
Everything you enter — properties, income, expenses, and the documents or photos you scan or import — is stored only on your device. We cannot see it. Photo and document text recognition (OCR) happens on your device.
To automatically fill in a receipt’s supplier, date, amount, and category, RentTax can send the text read from that receipt to our secure processing service, which passes it to our AI provider (Anthropic) to extract those fields. We send only the receipt’s text — never the image, your other records, your identity, or any account information, because there are no accounts. This text is used solely to return the extracted fields for that one receipt; it is not used to train AI models and is not retained by us. If you prefer, you can skip AI reading and enter receipt details manually — nothing is sent in that case. Free users get a limited number of AI reads; the rest of the app works without it.
If you create a backup file from Settings, it is saved wherever you choose (for example Files or iCloud Drive). That file is controlled by you and Apple’s iCloud terms, not by RentTax.
The one-time “Tax Pack Export” unlock is processed by Apple through the App Store. RentTax never sees your payment details. Apple’s handling of purchases is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
RentTax is intended for adults managing rental property and is not directed at children.
