SurfCheck Pro ("the App") is developed by Quyen Ngo. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Location Data

The App uses your Apple Watch's location to determine your position and find the nearest surf breaks. Your coordinates are sent to the Open-Meteo weather API to retrieve real-time wave height, wave period, wind, and tide data for spots near you. Location data is not stored on any server and is used only for the duration of each forecast request.

No Account Required

SurfCheck Pro does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number.

How We Use Your Information

• To find surf spots closest to your current location
• To fetch real-time wave, wind, and tide conditions from the Open-Meteo API
• To cache your most recent forecast locally on your device for faster loading

Data Storage

• On your device: Your most recent surf forecast is cached locally on your Apple Watch to allow instant display on next launch. This cache expires after one hour.
• On our servers: We do not operate any servers. No data is stored remotely by us.

Third-Party Services

• Open-Meteo: Your approximate location (latitude and longitude) is sent to the Open-Meteo Marine API and Weather API to retrieve surf and weather forecasts. Open-Meteo is a free, open-source weather API. No API key or user identifier is transmitted. See Open-Meteo's terms for details.
• Apple: The App is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple's privacy policy applies to App Store transactions and device services.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Data Retention

We do not retain any of your data on external servers. The only data stored is the local forecast cache on your Apple Watch, which you can delete at any time by removing the App.

Children's Privacy

SurfCheck Pro is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Your Rights

You can delete all locally stored data at any time by deleting the App from your Apple Watch.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page.
