By downloading, installing, or using WindPick ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
WindPick is an iOS app that ranks nearby coastal spots by today's wind conditions for kitesurfing and windsurfing. The App uses your device's location, or a region you choose, to find nearby spots and fetches live wind data from a public weather API to compute a score for each spot. The App also provides a one-tap handoff to your preferred maps app for driving directions.
The conditions and ratings provided by WindPick are informational and indicative only. They are based on a single weather-model query at each spot's coordinates and do not account for local terrain, obstacles, launch space, other water users, tides, currents, marine hazards, local regulations, or any other on-the-ground condition that affects whether it is safe or sensible to launch a kite or windsurf sail at a given spot.
The "relative to shore" rating (onshore / cross-shore / offshore) is a directional estimate based on an approximate coastline bearing and is not a substitute for your own on-site judgment. WindPick is not a marine safety service, a launch-site guide, or a substitute for consulting local knowledge, other riders, or official marine and weather warnings before entering the water. You are solely responsible for assessing whether a spot is safe to launch from, including your own skill level, equipment, and conditions on the day. Kitesurfing and windsurfing are inherently dangerous activities, and you ride at your own risk.
WindPick is an independent product. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any beach, coastal spot, local council, or land manager referenced in the App, nor with Open-Meteo, OpenStreetMap, Apple, Google, or any maps or weather data provider. Where the App links to a spot's location or to a maps app, those links are provided for your convenience and the destination operates under its own terms.
The App is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the wind conditions, scores, ratings, spot coordinates, or shore bearings are correct, accurate, complete, current, or suitable for any particular purpose. We do not warrant that the App will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WindPick and its developer are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or other loss arising from your use of the App, including any decision you make to travel to or launch at a particular spot based on the App's score or rating.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify any rights that you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified.
WindPick is free to download. The free version displays the top-ranked spot with the next spot shown as a free look. WindPick Pro is a one-time non-consumable In-App Purchase (USD $4.99, with local currency equivalents per Apple's regional pricing) that unlocks the full ranked list.
The Pro Unlock is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription, no auto-renewal, and no recurring charge. The unlock is tied to your Apple ID and can be restored on any device signed in to the same Apple ID via the in-app "Restore Purchases" action.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. All payments are processed by Apple. Refund requests should be directed to Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not handle refunds directly.
Prices listed are USD reference values. Local currency equivalents may differ based on Apple's regional pricing — your App Store will display the exact price you'll be charged in your local currency before purchase.

All design and code in WindPick are owned by Quyen Ngo. The spot dataset is derived from OpenStreetMap coastline data under its open licence, and weather data is provided by Open-Meteo under its open licence. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of the App.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
