SurfCheck Pro uses your Apple Watch's location to find the 10 nearest surf breaks. It fetches real-time wave height, wave period, swell direction, wind speed, wind direction, and tide data so you can check conditions at a glance — right from your wrist.
Turn the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch to scroll through nearby spots. Conditions for each spot are fetched automatically. Dots at the bottom of the screen show which spot you're viewing.
The large dot next to the spot name indicates overall surf quality: green means good conditions, orange means fair, and red means poor. The smaller dot next to the wind reading shows wind quality — offshore (good), cross-shore (fair), or onshore (poor) relative to the break.
Make sure Location Services are enabled for SurfCheck Pro. On your Apple Watch, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services and ensure SurfCheck Pro has access. If you're indoors, GPS accuracy may be reduced — try stepping outside.
SurfCheck Pro needs an internet connection to fetch live conditions. Make sure your Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone or to Wi-Fi.
Conditions are fetched fresh each time you tap to check surf. The app caches the most recent result for up to one hour for instant display on next launch.
The graph at the bottom of the display shows the 24-hour tide curve for the current spot, with markers for today's high and low tide times.
Yes. Your location is only used to find nearby spots and fetch forecasts. No data is stored on any server, and no account is required. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Wave, wind, and tide data are provided by Open-Meteo, a free and open-source weather API.
